Taking the national road N. 3 , (the Pan-American road) we will leave Ushuaia towards the north of Tierra del Fuego Island and get across the Andes Fueguinos through valleys covered by peat bogs. We will go through the Valle Carbajal, de los Huskies, Tierra Mayor and Cotorras. Cross country ski can be practised during wintertime in all these valleys. The next stop is the “Paso Garibaldi” which is at 450 mts above sea level. We will go through the Cordillera de los Andes and have a beautiful sight of the Lago Escondido and Lago Fagnano. Then we will drive down up to “Hosteria Petrel” on the coast of the Lago Escondido and visit the area of sawmills, especially the “Aserradero Martinez”, not working nowadays, on the coast of the Lago Fagnano . On the way back to Ushuaia we will stop to taste a typical dish: The Fueguian lamb.
